INTERESTING! California Gets Ready to Put Out the Fires
As it does every summer season, forest fires
have caused great damages in North America.
The 14
thousand firefighters that have given their all in their fight against California’s forest fires, which by now
have taken the lives of 7 people, have gone to several minimum-security prisons so that almost 2 thousand inmates can
learn how to fight fires.
On the other hand, by now over one thousand
vehicles have been driven towards the fires, alongside 59 diggers, 22
firefighting planes, 17 planes and 12 helicopters, all which have been key in
the rescue efforts.
The flames
are at their most intense alongside
the border area between the Mendocino
National Forest and the Lake and Colusa areas, and have destroyed a forest
area the approximate size of the city of Los
Ángeles, while still in danger of spreading towards other forest and
brush-filled areas, which cover over 176 kilometers.
State authorities from California’s Firefighting Department expressed
their deep concern over the fact that the fires may continue burning until the
end of the month, with the very real possibility of they spreading even
further into what has already been called one of the greatest fires in the history of the state located in North
America’s West. While seven lives have been lost, around 1.500 buildings have
been reduced to cinders.
President Donald Trump, through his official Twitter
account, accused “state authorities” and “firefighters who don’t properly
manage their use of water” of the fire’s spreading over California.
State authorities and firefighting experts did
not take long to answer him, explaining that there is more than enough water to
put out the fires that, on top of all, are harder to contain due to climate
change.
