IMPORTANT! Antofagasta Has a New Alarm-Monitoring Central
In order to have a highly capable firefighting
force, we must start by providing them with an alarm-monitoring central. Chile
is very aware of this.
In order to provide the best possible work
conditions to each of the workers who endeavor for 12-hour work-shifts –and
sometimes more— in small spaces, the Antofagasta
Firefighters, alongside the local authorities and Armed Forces high
command, officially opened the
community’s new Alarm-Central 132. Nestor Chayelle shares the good news
with the rest of Chile.
Daniel Bugueño, who works as the Antofagasta Firefighters’ superintendent, said:
“Now
that, in comparison to our previous equipment, the new one is full of better
technology, it was important to create an Alarm-Central and Firefighting
body-exclusive dependency.”
Jairo Arriagada, regional president of the
Firefighters, said:
“For us,
the Alarm-Central works as our eyes and ears, and it is key for the work we
must do when an emergency call comes in. I think it’s a way to invite other
firefighting bodies to do the same, in order to work together better when
there’s an emergency.”
Starting next August, shifts at the Alarm-Central
will increase, now employing two
operators per shift, allowing for an optimization
plan regarding the performance of Firefighters
during emergency calls, in order to
attend to them as fast as possible, according to the needs of the community.
